On March 16 2016, Alan Appleby of Trent Hills Probus Club and Bob Gibson of Ganaraska Valley Probus Club made a presentation to Northumberland County Council about Probus.  The occasion was that March was declared to be Probus month across Canada.

Summary of the Presentation

Probus History
The Caterham Rotary club in England held a founding meeting in February 1966. Probus Clubs were started in New Zealand in 1974, Australia in 1976 and Canada in 1987. Probus originally was a club for retired professional and business people hence the name Probus. And now, Probus has grown to over 4,000 clubs in 23 countries from Argentina (1 club) to Zimbabwe (4 clubs) on 6 continents.

The Probus Club of Cambridge Ontario was founded March 17, 1987 and there are now 237 active Probus Clubs in nine Provinces across Canada with 32,432 members with an average membership of 137.

Our Goals Are Fun, Friendship and Education
