Guiding Principles used: Keep abreast of changes to Guidelines/Club's autonomy vs. Guidelines/Keep brief/general
Suggested Guidelines for Re-Opening PROBUS Clubs: Note: These are Guidelines only and do not in any way minimize the important responsibility of Mgm't Teams and individual members to do all that is necessary to reduce risk to themselves and to their fellow members.
With the restrictions in place prohibiting groups larger than 5 from gathering, all Probus clubs in Northumberland have temporarily ceased operating, That is, there are no meetings or events. Some clubs are continuing with their newsletters to keep continuity and community.
This is of course impacting clubs across Canada and recognising this, the President of Probus Canada, Marlene Pearce, has issued a memo addressed to presidents with her thoughts. Download here.
One of the things that the shutdown affected was the celebration of National Probus Month. Ineke Knight and Jamie Doolittle have also written to Presidents on this subject. Download their letter here.

On an invitation by District Director Jamie Doolittle, the President of Probus Canada, Bill Sexsmith, visited Northumberland Probus at a regular meeting on September 28th. Other Northumberland clubs were invited and were well represented – many staying for a lunch afterwards.
Later in the day, Bill participated in an unveiling of a new sign added to the Cobourg gateway sign which listed all Cobourg’s “service” clubs. Although Probus is not a service club, it seemed appropriate to let visitors know that Probus is active in the Town. Visitors can find when there are meetings from this web site and would be welcomed as guests.
Photos right and below show Jamie, Bill and the Northumberland Probus team who helped get the Probus Logo on the sign.
